Built from 1996 to 1999 with most still in service, this later variation of the SD70-series introduced the new Isolated or Whisper Cab (noted by the "I" in the model designation), designed to reduce noise and vibration, and easily identified by the visible seam along the nose. PLEASE NOTE: When operating Walthers-branded DCC-equipped locomotives in DC mode, do not use power packs that exceed an 18V rating. This includes MRC 1300-series power packs which have known issues with our decoders.
